Celestial Tournament: Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-Ji

Today, I will be looking at the strategy I use to defeat Chi-Chi in the Celestial Tournament. Chi-Chi is one of 4 legendary bosses that one must defeat to earn the achievement:

MOWMaster of the Masters

What makes this boss and her three counterparts unique is that she has a buff called Boss

achievement_dungeon_coablackdragonflight_heroic

Reduces all damage taken by 50%. Boss pets cannot be dealt more than 35% of their maximum health in one attack.
Chi-Chi has 3 abilities and these abilities are predictable. The abilities and what they do are listed below.

inv_feather_06

Fire Quills Flings 1-2 fiery quills at the enemy, dealing 158 Elemental damage                      per hit. Hits an additional time if the user attacks first

ability_monk_forcesphere

Ethereal Enter an ethereal state, avoiding all attacks the round it is                                        used. This ability always goes first.

spell_nature_tranquility

Tranquility Fills the area with peace, causing your active pet to                                                 restore 140 health every round.

Chi Chi has a rotation that is fairly predictable. She will always start out with Tranquility followed by Fire Quills followed by Ethereal and then Fire Quills till Ethereal is off cool down and after that Tranquility again. The Ethereal ability is always used on cool down and the Tranquility I believe is used when her health hits certain percentages.

As a FY Fire Quills can hurt a lot and can take a pet down in 2 turns so even though my strategy is sound RNG may cause your experience to be different.

To battle Chi-Chi I use 1 undead pet and 2 dragon pets and they are as follow.

inv_valkierpet

Unborn Val’kyr (H/H)

inv_misc_head_dragon_nexus

Nexus Whelpling (P/P) x 2

The video that accompany this video is slightly different at the beginning but the moves I use are the same. My goal for this pet is burn her down before she burns me down. To accomplist this I start with the Unborn Val’kry followed by either Nexus Whelpling. For most fights I only use 2 pets.

Turn 1:

Chi Chi uses:

spell_nature_tranquilityTranquility

Unborn Val’kry uses:

spell_shadow_auraofdarknessCurse of Doom

Deals 652 Undead damage after 5 rounds.

Turn 2:

Chi Chi uses

inv_feather_06Fire Quills

Unborn Val’kry uses:

ability_warlock_eradication

Unholy Ascension

Sacrifices your remaining life to haunt the enemy team, increasing all damage                         they take by 25% for 9 rounds.

I wish to stop here to explain my reasoning. I kill my pet off because she is only there to set up the kill for my Nexus Whelplings and for the damage increase to Chi-Chi to help offset the Boss buff she gets.

Turn 3:

Chi-Chi uses:

ability_monk_forcesphereEthereal

Nexus Whelpling uses:

spell_arcane_massdispel Arcane Storm

Deals 131 Magic damage to all enemies and warps the weather into Arcane                             Winds for 9 rounds.

Turn 4:

Chi Chi uses

inv_feather_06Fire Quills

Nexus Whelpling uses:

spell_arcane_arcanetorrent Mana Surge

Deals 444 Magic damage. Deals 148 additional damage when the weather is                            Arcane Winds.   Mana Surge continues for 3 rounds.

Turn 5 should be the same as 4 in which if your pet does not miss Chi- Chi will be low enough for

spell_shadow_auraofdarknessCurse of Doom

to detonaite at which time CH-Chi dies and if not you continue with mana surge for either whelpling if one dies until Chi Chi is down.

The following video will show the match almost as it is described above.

Hope you enjoyed this post please comment and I will also be adding this post as a page under Celestial Tournament.
